Ava DuVernay born August 24 72, at Long Beach in California. DuVernay was encouraged to pursue her love of art by DuVernay's aunt Denise when she was a girl. She began her career as an intern for CBS News, during the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay recalls being tasked to observe the house of one of the members of the jury and go through their garbage. In the course of her tasks she began to feel dissatisfied by journalism, and shifted into the public relations industry. DuVernay joined a small studio as a Junior Publicist immediately after graduation. Her private PR company, The DuVernay Agency was established in 1999.
